      That becomes very specialized, but I’ll try. One of the biggest discoveries I had in recent years was a protein which is important to regulate the level of recombination during the cell division leading to gametes (reproductive cells). This is hugely important for accurate cell division and influences the health of gametes and thus progeny arising from these gametes. We found this out in yeast, but this protein is conserved, meaning it also is present in animals and plants. In plants, it has been shown that this protein fulfills the same role during gamete formation. Hope that was clear enough.
