Your heart will beat on average 60-100 times per minute. Lots of things can alter this, for example your age, your sex and if you are exercising!. Exercise can make your heart grow bigger (so it can pump more blood round your body) and elite athletes can have very low heart rates of 40-60 beats per minute. As the heart is bigger, each beat pushes more blood around the body so it a very efficient system 🙂
