Like any job, there are some boring times (like paperwork), but really thats such a small percentage. The majority of the work I find exciting and because I’m constantly doing new stuff it doesn’t get old either.
Absolutely. Paperwork, admin, meaningless meetings, experiments that aren’t yet producing results and may not for a long time. I think nearly all jobs will have a boring component, some more than others but it really depends what you like doing and what you can tolerate.
For me, I enjoy doing different projects, meeting new people, exploring new datasets and developing new approaches to solve problems. That comfortably outweighs the boring parts!
Sometimes yes, but that is true for all jobs. I find it quite boring going to the lab, its very repetitive and it can be quite sad when you do things in an identical way but they don’t come out right. There is also a lot of formalities with a PhD, like filling out forms to say you met with your supervisor each month, that feel like a waste of time.
