Yes, we did have some set-backs due to Covid, however we’re now able to re-start our experiments and I’m hoping to be able to begin recruiting participants in the next few months 🙂 It’s been a long 14 months without in-person experiments for me!

Yes, it did. I had to work at home so I couldn’t do any practical experiments but I did lots of research online instead!

Yes, we were not able get in to the lab for over 6 months as I work in a hospital where we had lots of Covid patients. Things are almost back to normal now but all teaching is still on line. We are hoping to have proper face to face teaching next term but what the new normal will be like it hard to say.

Yes, unfortunately my study was paused and all of my teaching went online.
I also found lockdown and not seeing my friends and family really tough!

Yes it did. I got sent out of the lab for 4 months and as I was in the first year of my PhD this was bad timing. If we don’t have any materials then we can’t measure anything! When we went back, we only worked every other week in the lab which was not very nice. I also found it sad that I couldn’t go on my own experiments because I always found that very exciting and I felt like I was missing out a lot.

Lab work was stopped for almost 4 months, which did not affect me personally as much, but all of my team members had major setbacks because of this. For the last year we have been working in shifts in the lab to allow social distancing. This is very cumbersome and slows down progress.
