My CV
-
Qualifications:
GCSEs – English Language, English Lit, Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, French, Psychology, Sociology, Applied Art
A Levels – Biology, Maths, French. I wanted each of my A levels to bring something different. Although I don’t use French much in my degree, I really enjoyed having a break from science, so i would recommend picking a humanities subject even if you want to be a scientist!
Degree – BSc Neuroscience at the University of Leeds. I will go back for my final year (and to do my dissertation – gulp) in September this year.

Work History:
I worked – and still will do once the pandemic is over! – at a wedding venue for four years 👰 My main role was working behind the bar, but I would do a lot of other tasks too like washing glasses, putting up fairy lights and making the bride and groom breakfast the morning after their big day!
I applied for a paid job in a lab at university in my first year, which fortunately I got! I spent six weeks studying a disease called Alzheimer’s, where people affected can lose a lot of their memories and behaviours. I worked with some amazing people trying to find a cure 🔬
-
Current Job:
I chose to do a placement year as part of my degree. I knew I wanted to promote science rather than do the science myself, so I looked at communications jobs. I applied for a placement at ISIS Neutron and Muon Source in Public Engagement, went for an interview day and a tour of the facility, and was offered the job. It was one of the best decisions I ever made! I love it here.

I really like to run – I have been to lots of different places to race, including Edinburgh and Spain ☀️ After work, you might find me outside appreciating the countryside, cooking something new with my housemates, or scrolling on Tiktok📱 Pronouns: she/her

I started working at the ISIS Neutron and Muon Source in Oxford in August 2020. I work from home because of the coronavirus pandemic, but this doesn’t mean that I am any less busy! I make activities on lots of different science, from how to build your own density tower to teaching you about the far off planets in our solar system!🚀👩🚀 Here is just part of the science facility where I work – as you can see, it is huge…

My Typical Day:
I usually have two or three Zoom calls a day. In between, you might find me designing worksheets, or playing around with pipecleaners and UV beads to prepare for a workshop!
