Google has told me its the Botulinum toxin which was first identified as a cause of food poisoning due to incorrectly prepared sausage in the 18th century. It causes muscle paralysis but scarily is the same toxin used in Botox (and if that hasn’t put you off, I don’t know what will).

One scary chemical I have seen in the lab, but never touched because I’m too scared is Pirahna solution. Its a mix of hydrogen peroxide and sulphuric acid, and eats literally everything, take a look on youtube and you’ll see what I mean…

Jennifer’s answer below is what Google told me too.

I have worked with tetrodotoxin before, it is a poison found in pufferfish. It is more deadly than cyanide so we have to be really careful and only use it in the fume hood with goggles and gloves and a lab coat.

There are some amazing toxic compounds from algae out there that are an organic chemists dream (or nightmare)! Things like maitotoxin, brevetoxin and ciguatoxin are incredibly toxic and have the most amazing structures.

To answer the question a different way, the most dangerous chemical on earth at the moment if possibly carbon dioxide because of its effect on the climate.
